DT Series
The loading plate doesn’t float.
Have you inflated the system yet? For the DT-M, manual load adjustment system, you need to inflate the system using a hand pump and the Schrader valves on the front of the system. If you are having trouble inflating the system, check to make sure that the hand pump is operating properly. Place your hand in front of the air pump nozzle and pump it, feel if air is coming out of it. Check to make sure that there is no debris clogging the Schrader valves.
For the DT-A, automatic load adjustment system, the system must be connected to an external air supply. Connect the external air supply to the air regulator. Ensure that the air regulator is connected to the rest of the isolation system. The air pressure should be set to 1.5 kg/cm2 for the DT-4048 and 2 kg/cm2 for the DT-6050. Check to make sure that all the lines are attached properly and that they are free from cracks or leaks.
If the above methods are ineffective, ensure that the load on top of the system isn’t exceeding the load capacity of the system.
The system is over-inflated.
For the manual load adjustment version, air can be let out of the system by pressing the core in the center of the Schrader valves. For the automatic load adjustment, reduce the air pressure in the system by adjusting the air regulator.
The system loses air quickly
For the DT-M, manual load adjustment system, check that the valve cores on the Schrader valves are not loose. If they are, tighten them using the Shrader valve core tool provided with the system. If you hear the sound of leaking air, contact Herzan.
For the DT-A, automatic load adjustment system, make sure that there are no leaks or cracks in the hoses connecting the air supply to the regulator and the regulator to the system. Make sure all connection points are well-sealed. If you hear the sound of leaking air, contact Herzan.
The air diaphragms on the system will need to be replaced every 3 – 5 years. Contact Herzan for replacement parts.
The system won’t inflate.
There are lock-down bolts which attach the mounting plate to the system for safety in transit. Look underneath the system and remove the lock-down bolts. Once the lock-down bolts are removed, try inflating the system again. If it still won’t inflate, make sure there are no obstructions between the mounting plate and outer frame which is preventing the plate from lifting.
Vibration isolation performance is poor.
- Ensure that the system is ‘floating’. Ensure that the system is properly inflated using the steps above.
- Ensure that the system is placed on a sturdy, rigid table.
- Check that all cables connected to the equipment on top are slack and, if necessary, weighted.
- Check that the set-up is not influenced by acoustic noise or air movement. If so, employ an acoustic enclosure or wind baffle.
- Make sure that equipment is centered on top of the isolation system.
